Integration of High Resolution Digital Elevation Models in 3d-gis-applications of the Environmental Information System of Baden-württemberg

چکیده
This paper describes the integration of high resolution digital elevation models, currently acquired by the administration of BadenWürttemberg, a state in Germany, in two example 3D GIS applications of the Environmental Information System (UIS) of BadenWürttemberg. The combination of the high resolution DEM with the area-wide data acquisition in Baden-Württemberg leads to a great amount of data, which needs to be handled. Thus the paper starts with a discussion about the data handling. The paper describes techniques for the preprocessing of the data as a prerequisite for the management of the data with the raster tiling approach in the database. The next part of the paper concentrates on techniques for the visualization of the data in a GIS system. These techniques are used in both example applications, discussed in the following part of the paper. Both examples show the successful integration of high resolution digital elevation models into 3D GIS applications.

Effect of digital elevation model’s resolution in producing flood hazard maps
Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters occurring annually in the Philippines. A call for a solution for this malady is very challenging as well as crucial to be addressed. Mapping flood hazard is an effective tool in determining the extent and depth of floods associated with hazard level in specified areas that need to be prioritized during flood occurrences. Precedent to the...
متن کاملIntegration of artificial neural network and geographic information system applications in simulating groundwater quality
Background: Although experiments on water quality are time consuming and expensive, models are often employed as supplement to simulate water quality. Artificial neural network (ANN) is an efficient tool in hydrologic studies, yet it cannot predetermine its results in the forms of maps and geo-referenced data. Methods: In this study, ANN was applied to simulate groundwater quality ...
متن کاملFlood hazard mapping in an urban area using combined hydrologic-hydraulic models and geospatial technologies
Flooding is one of the most occurring natural hazards every year risking the lives and properties of the affected communities, especially in Philippine context. To visualize the extent and mitigate the impacts of flood hazard in Malingon River in Valencia City, Bukidnon, this paper presents the combination of Geographic Information System, high-resolution Digital Elevation Model, land cover, so...

LISFLOOD-FP belongs to a new generation of hydrodynamic models of flood simulation, which is implemented by a digital elevation map for the river and the waterways, route information and flow rates The LISFLOOD-FP features are two-dimensional hydraulic models: 1. based on raster 2. large scale 3. ease of formulation and high computational efficiency 4. simplicity of use 5. spatial adjustmen...
متن کاملApplication of High-resolution (10m) Dem on Geographic Information Systems
A high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) (10m meshed grid) has been integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). So far, 50m-meshed DEM by the Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ) is widely used for various GIS applications such as constructing 3D systems in Japan. 50m DEM covers all over the area of Japan, which has 0.1-meter resolution in a vertical direction. The spatial resoluti...
